After the impactful result recorded through the church planting at Amagu, Ugbawka, the Chapel of His Resurrection, (COHR), ESUT Teaching Hospital, ParkLane, Enugu was further motivated to seek and reach out to other hinterland area where there was evident need for the word of God.

Thus in January, 2011, through the help of Mr.Isaac Nwaneri (a missionary engaged by the Chapel), the outreach committee located Isiogbo Community in Nara as fertile ground for the gospel. In preparation for an outreach to the community, Mr. Nwaneri with the assistance of the Igwe of the community, Igwe Sunday Arinze, was able to secure the village Nkwo market square for the outreach location and the Isiogbo Primary School as camping ground for those who would come from Enugu.

THE OUTREACHES

The Maiden Outreach (February, 2011)

Different units of the chapel were mobilized, banners and fliers printed, and on February 15, 2011, eighteen members of the chapel from Enugu, in company of a town crier from the community went round Isiogbo nara, creating awareness for the outreach. Consequently, the first outreach to the community was scheduled for February 18-20,2011.

The Chapel of His resurrection congregation had, as always generously provided the resources needed for the outreach, so that on February 18,2012, the team comprising members of the outreach committee, as well as several members of the COHR congregation arrived Isiogbo Nara.

The theme of the crusade was “Jesus The Only Way.” That Friday night, a fill captioned “Jesus Na Asu Igbo” was shown and Bro Isaac Nwaneri later ministered the word of God. The following morning a medical outreach followed. Free medical examinations, drugs, shoes, and clothing materials were provided, as well as sharing the word of God, to the over six hundred villagers ho turned out.

On the same Saturday in the evening, a film “ The Glorious Arrest,” was also shown, with Bro Damian Duruewuru preaching later. In all, the  crusade witnessed large turn-out of the villagers, with one hundred and thirty-two (132)adults and one hundred and nineteen (119) children all together responding to the altar calls. About seventy-five members of the chapel in Enugu had also participated in the program.

The First Church Service

Thereafter, the Sunday service was held on February 20 2011, at the primary school. Ven Prof. (then rev. canon Dr. Sam Ike Officiated at the service, which had about seventy –eight villagers and members of CHR, Enugu in attendance. The Church having been planted at Isiogbo Nara, Bro Isaac Nwaneri was assigned to nurture her.

Strengthening the Church (Further Outreaches)

A follow up outreach/crusade was held by the chapel on 14th-15th May,2011,with forty-five members participating. A medical outreach was also held on Sunday morning, which featured bible study altar call, with medical attention to one hundred and ninety adults and sixty children, who also received other welfare packages. By evening, another film as well as a drama were shown, and Bro damian Duruewuru ministered. The Sunday morning service witnessed an increased attendance by the villagers and Mrs. Nonye Obinuko Preached the sermon.

In line with the vision of systematically disciplining  the congregation  to growth in Christ-likeness, several follow-up visits had continued to the church to teach and to strengthen the brethren there. These included a workers training (24 September 2011); follow –up visits (March4,and September 16,2012); consolidation outreach again (May19-20,2012); as well as a love feast visit (December,2012).

The Chapel Of His Resurrection Parklane, Enugu had equally reached out to  the less privileged members of the community, especially widows with over six hundred and ninety (690) persons participating in one such program, organized during the August meeting of 2012, and anchored by the church teacher, Mr. Isaac Eze. Thus on different occasions, items including clothing, rice and cash gift were shared to the participants, without, denominational bias, in the bid to spread the gospel.

COHR also supported immensely in the church building project which has been completed to the glory of God.
