INTRODUCTION
The presence of light brings about illumination, guidance, revelation and direction. It also dispels darkness. In the same way, the word of God gives the direction and wisdom we need to live according to God’s commandment. God’s word, when followed, helps us to navigate the pathway of life without stumbling and thus becomes our guide in every circumstance.
Reliance on the word of God, without doubt, is the only way to successfully live as Christians who are the light of the world. May the Lord help us in the course of this study to determine to walk in the light of God’s word.

QUESTIONS FOR DISCUSSION:

1) Discuss the function of light from the following passages. Matt. 5:15 – 16; Eph. 1:18; 5:13 – 14.

2) How does the word of God function as light? Heb. 4:12; Ps. 119:105, 130; Dan. 9:2 – 3, 21 – 22.

3) What happens when we walk in the light of God’s word? Ps.119:98-100,165; 1Jn. 1:7; Jn. 8:12; Ps. 73:24.

4) How can the impact of God’s word increase in our lives? Josh.1:8; 1Thess. 2:13; Col. 3:16; Eph. 5:7-10. Is the Bible an opinion, an option, for you, or the final word from the Living God?

5) Discuss the effect of failure to walk in the light of God’s word? Is 48:17-18; Num. 20:8 – 12; Mk. 7:13.

6a) Identify the factors that may hinder a believer’s walk in the light. 1Jn. 1:5–6; Jn. 3:19-21; Heb. 4:2.

6b) How can they be overcome? Prov. 3:5 – 6; Ps. 119:9.
